The Suppression of Depression
As we enter the holiday season, according to the psychological community, the rate of depression among our population increases. Why is that? There are a lot of things that can cause depression. But they don’t have to defeat us. Most of us are depressed about something at some time in our lives.
So how can we suppress depression God’s way?

Biblical strategy for combating depression:
1. Repent from all known sin. 1 John 1:9

2. Rejoice in God’s provision.1 Peter 1:3-9

3. Speak praise to God.Psalm 9:1-2, 9

4. Challenge defeatist thoughts.2 Cor. 10:4-5

5. Encourage others.2 Cor. 1:3-5

Conclusion:
Depression is part of human experience
but it doesn’t have to defeat us.
God isn’t finished with me yet.

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal
to win the prize for which God has called me
heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
