March 6, 2016 Message Outline, "This Life I Live"
When trying to define the Christian life, most folks actually try to describe it by saying it is simply not doing bad things.... or just "doing the best you can." Today we are going to offer a simple working definition of the life of a Christ follower. Does this describe you?
(Please read each of the following sets of verses and then consider the statements below)
From Philippians Chapter 1
Vss. 1-8
For Paul, life was about joyfully praying and testifying for Christ regardless of the cost or troubles it brings.
Vss. 9-20
Our only motivation should be a Godly, growing love toward others.
Vss. 21-25
For Paul, life was about joyful service and being with Jesus someday was even better.
Vs. 27
We should glorify God where ever we are, (including in traffic?!?!?) and be in unity with other believers.
Vss. 28-30
We should not fear what the enemy can do to us, just expect it.
So then, the Christian life is defined as a
joyful, loving, faithful witness.
Philippians 4:4
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"
Nehemiah 8:10b
"Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
